Manufactured home vehicle to real property
Formerly known as mobile homes, manufactured homes are built in a manufacturing plant, are originally titled as vehicles with the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and are transported to the site in one or more sections on a permanent chassis. Each transportable unit of a manufactured home has a red HUD certification label attached. Manufactured homes must be built in accordance with Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards (HUD Code).
A manufactured home is not the same as a modular home. Both are built in a factory and transported in one or more pieces to the jobsite but a modular home is never titled as a vehicle whereas each section of a manufactured home begins it's life titled as a vehicle.
Financing a modular home is no different from a traditional site-built home whereas requirements for a manufactured home loan differ in many respects from those of traditional site-built and modular homes. One of every three homes constructed in Florida is a manufactured home.
If you wish to have a manufactured home placed on land you already own, we may be able to use equity in your land to pay for the home. Please review our financing land page and Contruction-to-Permanent page.
